This FAQ provides answers to questions regarding the YHGfL filtered Internet solution.
SMTP
All email traffic into or out of the
YHGfL? network is done via the mail relay servers.
Sites with Mail Servers
Sites with mail servers should configure them with a smart host setting of
Sites without Mail Servers
Sites without mail servers should configure there mail clients with the following smtp server settings
SMTP authentication
NOTE:- Use of smtp authentication is reserved for customers who are using email boxes from YHGfL this enables them to use the same smtp settings both inside and outside the YHGfL network
Proxy Servers
Sites with Proxy Servers
All Proxy servers should be configured with upstream proxies with the following hostname and port
NOTE:- You will need to enter exceptions into your proxy server for access to web servers on your local network
Sites without Proxy Servers
All client machines should be configured with the following proxy server settings
NOTE:- You will need to enter exceptions into your browser for access to web servers on your local network
Microsoft Software Update Services
All downstream MSUS servers should be configured to talk to the following server address
NOTE:- All patches are automatically approved on this server. It is the sites technical support staffs responsibility to test that patches they are applying are suitably tested before applying to there workstations and servers prior to rollout.
Video Conferencing
All VC sessions in and out of the
YHGfL? network must be via the VC gatekeeper solution provided. All VC enpoint must be configured with the following settings
Common Issues
SMTP
Mail Server unable to send or recieve mail
Mail server is unable to send or recieve email but I am able to telnet to the YHGfL mail server and send a mail maunally
This is either one of two issues with the configuration of your mail server you either have
- Two default gateways configured on your mail server
- Mail server interface is configured with a incorrect subnet mask
Wikipedia
Wikipedia Blocked page problems

On this page it explains why a user may be unable to edit a wikipedia page. In order to get around this problem, you should create you own account which will allow you to be distinguished by Wikipedia as a legitimate user and not be blocked. This is due to the way firewalls work, assigning multiple users to one IP address.
